Mike Pieciak Endorsed by the Professional Firefighters of Vermont

Burlington, Vt. — State Treasurer Mike Pieciak has received the unanimous endorsement of the Professional Firefighters of Vermont, PFFV A49 AFL-CIO, in his reelection campaign.

In announcing their support, the union’s president, Chris Dube, said, “Treasurer Pieciak has been a great friend and advocate for the PFFV, supporting issues important to our members. Treasurer Pieciak listens to and understands our concerns and will work to improve pay and benefits for our members. We are proud to support him in his reelection bid and look forward to continuing to work with him on our issues.

“His support for Defined Benefit retirement for our members demonstrates his commitment to ensuring public safety employees can retire securely. He also advocated for improving the Emergency Personnel Survivors Benefit for our members who make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, ensuring their families are compensated.”

Pieciak praised the union’s work and Vermont’s firefighters and said he was honored to receive their support: “Our firefighters always show up to protect Vermonters, our communities, our homes, and our businesses. They serve us every day, and we need to have their back. As State Treasurer, I’m proud to be a steadfast supporter of the public pension system that serves firefighters. In my second term, I will continue to deliver on the issues that matter to Vermont’s firefighters, such as protecting expanding benefits and improving access to housing.”

PFFV previously endorsed Mike Pieiak in his first campaign for Treasurer in 2022. Since taking office in 2023, Mike Pieciak has demonstrated his commitment to the state and its firefighters. He has overseen the strengthening of our pension system, supported pro-labor legislation, expanded Firefighters survivors Benefits to $80,000, and made an historic $60 million investment to support the development of over 1,100 homes across Vermont.

Mike Pieciak was sworn in as Treasurer in 2023. Under his direction, the Treasurer’s office has made historic investments in housing, climate resilience, and rebuilding the middle class.
